So easy to be green!
I grew up using the typical gas mower and always hated it. It was loud, smelly, hot, and required routine maintenance (oil, fuel filters, plugs, winterizing, etc). I now have my own lawn and I refuse to own a gas mower. I tried a reel mower, and it was ok but not great. The Greenworks electric mower is amazing! It is quiet enough to mow early in the morning. It doesn't get hot. I've mowed my lawn twice on a single charge (to be fair, it's not a big lawn). The only maintenance is sharpening the blade. I have found lawn-care nirvana!

Great mower - has issues with reliabilit
I first bought this mower last year from another retailer. Got in a full season, including very heavy use in the fall, where I used this mower to pick and bag all of the leaves on 1/4 acre property. Worked great. Battery life was as predicted almost exactly. Claimed 40 minutes, and it ran for just about 40 minutes before battery quit. Has two batteries, so no problem finishing the job with 2nd battery. Recharge time was fast. But first mower failed when computer module gave out - and it became a brick. But with the big investment in the batteries and charger, I came to CPO to buy a re-conditioned model.
Must say that CPO gave me some of the best customer service that I have ever had. First mower was Dead On Arrival. Took less than 10 minutes on the phone for CPO to arrange for a return label (via email), and to re-order (and ship) a replacement. I brought the DOA mower to UPS the same day for return, and two days later had the replacement - which works like a charm.
Because I now have two chargers and 4 batteries, I plan on re-couping some of my cost by selling the extras on EBAY.
As for the mower, this is the best. When it's computer module is not failing, it is a workhorse. I am able to cut about 10,000SF in about an hour. It is light, easy to clean, easy to store, and so far, the best mulching lawn mower that I have ever owned - and oh so quiet.

Smart Choice just not for me.
I like new ideas. The cordless concept for a lawn mower was very appealing. The purchase choice I made was only done after much research, mostly on line because I just couldn't find any product in local stores. My experience with using the mower was limited to one time but I found it to be very manageable and it performed OK, a little less power than expected, but adequate. The power to cut dry grass in late fall, here in central Georgia, was a challenge for the motor so I think the summer growing season may have bogged it down a bit. Needs more get-up-and-go.
I was disappointed in the 40v battery pack for one reason: after the short use, cutting 2000 square feet, it needed the charge to be refreshed. Only half gone indicated by the battery light indicator, that was good, but after the recharge the light indicator did not respond. This one fact gave me an untrustworthy feeling for the whole concept of the mower because of an out-of-the-box problem.
Reluctantly, the mower has been returned. Maybe I'll consider a newer generation mower in the future.
This was my experience - it may not be yours.

Great mower
I'm very happy with this mower. The lithium batteries are great! They're lightweight, charge quickly and provide sufficent charge for my mowing needs. Mowing has been great--no problems. The mower does seem to lack sufficent ability to "vacuum" small items when mowing such as small leaves and other debris bits (plant pods, small tree droppings, etc) It certainly mows the lawn effectively. My old gasoline mower was effective at doing a vacuum/clean-up of the lawn but cordless mowers seem to lack sufficent ability to lift items to dispense them into the clipping bag (my Neuton had this same issue). Mowing and catching grass is absolutely not a problem--it's a joy to use; no mess of gasoline/oil and pull starting. It starts easily with the push button/handle start system. I'm pleased -- battery life will be key; its too early to know if this will be an issue, but for now it's been a great purchase! I'm a bit puzzled as to why two different sized 40V batteries were provided. I would think that given that this is a mower, two of the larger batteries would have been provided but so far, I've not had the mower run out of battery power during a mow and if it did, I guess the small 2nd battery would be sufficent to finish.

FYI on Cordless Lithium Battery Driven Mower
Lots too love, especially for someone with a smaller area to cover. At just under an acre with high pitched hills and at 61, I really do miss the self-propelled feature of the gas mower. So, I ask R+D to consider an add-on that is an easy solar-driven retrofit to serve as assist for hills.

As well, if any upgrades are developed, please design solutions that can be integrated into the older models; so, the consumer doesn't have to invest in an entirely new upgrade.

I also found that the path I cut always needed to be recut in order to capture a missed line of grass, an experience I never had with my old gas. But, going out now and I will report if it's just that I purchased a deck that is smaller than that to which I am accustomed i.e. my old gas mower.

Nonetheless, I feel great that I am no longer contributing to the carbon footprint with a fossil fuel driven mower.

The entire industry needs to stop the madness and go 'solar lithium battery'!

Great but ....
Loved this tool but I need it in an 80V so when I haven't been able to get to my lawn due to weather or time constraints.
At 40V, high growth requires a time-consuming second cut.
Also, R+D might consider a solar retrofit that offers self-propel support. My hills are so steep that even with a light machine, extra support is required. An add-on upgrade would be considerate of the consumer so we don't have to keep buying entirely new equipment every time developers have a great idea. Planned obsolescence is a unfair manipulation that also hurts the financially strapped consumer.

Easy Mowin'!
I would highly recommend this mower. Push button start, no yanking on a rope handle and wearing out your shoulder. Also another great benefit, no gas to go buy and pour, and spill.

Great Little Mower
I love this mower. Wanted a light weight powerful mower to do our small lawn. Comes with two batteries, one larger capacity, but either has plenty of power to do the entire lawn and part of the next mow. Easy to start, operate and empty the bag, yet is quiet enough hear someone talking which is impossible with a gas powered mower. The only minor issue is my soft grip handle started to tear but that was easily fixed with a little electrical tape. Highly recommend this machine! Looking to buy the trimmer next.

Why do these mowers come with 2 different size batteries but only need 1 or the other to operate? Also, what is the difference between a 40 V G-Max & a 40 V Lithium Ion battery?
