This is a great tool for the yard
Put this to work right out of the box and it produced excellent results. I was skeptical about the power of an electric dethatcher but I became a believer within 2 minutes. My lawn was thick, long and had not benefitted from dethatching for years. None the less, this little guy got right down to the soil and brought up all the thatch. It does have a heat related shut off which became bothersome at first. But then I realized that it was probably the tines working against the ball of thatch under the device that was causing the overheating problem. I learned to tip one side of the device up onto one wheel and it would move the device over the ball of thatch. Then return the device to its normal operating position (on two wheels) and it never overheated again. I found with the amount of thatch I was generating that I needed to do this little tipping maneuver about every 10 feet.

Awesome . I love itt.
This "little" dethatcher did an incredible job on my lawn in a very short time. I had used a hand dethatcher and decided very quickly that I needed something with a little more oomph; so I got this Greenworks electric one, put it together in 15 minutes and began the work. I am amazed at how much thatch this little thing got up. I took no time at all. I hope it lasts a long time. I did need to get used to handling a long extension cord. No gasoline to mess with; no fumes; no harm to environment.

Does the job!
I have tried dethatching blades that you install on your mower and this thing works 1,000 times better. It really pulls out the dead grass. Just be ready to rake and or use your mover to pick up the thatch. If your lawn is as bad as mine was you are going to need to go over it several times. But is does a great job!

Good buy
The product worked as advertised, but I made sure I measured my lawn area first. I bought the correct gauge extension cord for the length needed to avoid overheating the machine. That said, de-thatching my Zoysia lawn was fast compared to a gasoline de-thatcher I used in the past, and I didn't have to tinker with gas engine adjustments, tune-ups, noise and exhaust.

Get your lawn green with this machine.
The best $100 I ever spent on my lawn!
Recently, I've had problems getting water to the roots of my lawn but not any more. I've used gas powered dethatchers before but they were too rough on the roots. This unit is an electric power rake which is just perfect for my turf. Just because it's an electric don't think it's gutless. It removed lots and lots of dead grass, yet it didn't bog down through the thick stuff. A week after dethatching and mowing up the dead grass, the transformation was amazing. My lawn is green and thick and I'm using a lot less water. You even get an extra set of spring fingers that can replace the set on the machine when they wear down. A well thought out and well designed machine.

Avid Do-it-Yourselfer
Works great and does not tear up lawn very much
5 years of ownership. I have used this atleast 10 times. The very first time I used it, there must have been 5 brown bags of thatch and the lawn looked thin out. I dethatch twice a year now and the lawn looks great. First time I had 5 brown bags full, now I get about 2 a year. As far as durability. The machine will rattle itself apart. There is a rubber flap with 2 wing nuts. They will rattle loose and fall out. I think the machine works better with out the flap. Thatch can build up in the machine and get thrown back down in with the flap. With out it, the machine just spits it right out the back on top of the lawn. Also, at the bottom of the white handle near the green machine, there is a black block. There is a 2" sheet metal screw threw the white handle and that black block into the green machine housing. Over time the vibrations of the machine and movement of the handle will cause that screw to break. So keep an eye out when that black block falls out.

Greenworks 14" Dethatcher
I read the reviews before buying this dethatcher and the reviews were correct. The thing really digs out the dead grass and best of all, it leaves the green grass. It works quickly and efficiently. It's a joy to use. It does such a good job that you have all kinds of dead grass. Greenworks really has a good product here. Very often it's out of stock at CPO. No wonder, when something works this good, they can't keep it in stock.

Envy of the neighborhood
I take great pride in my lawn. I get asked all the time what I do to to have such a nice lawn. Then this summer we had a bit of a drought and it took a real toll on my lawn. The resulting thatch was choking any new growth when the drought was over. I found the greenworks dethatcher on the cpo site. I figured for the price it was worth a shot. I have to say the greenworks dethatcher far and away exceeded my expectations. I couldn't believe such a lightweight machine could lift up so much thatch....neither could my neighbor's. So now everytime I use it I can see the neighbors envy as my lawn gets greener and thicker. Thanks CPO and Greenworks for a great product.

Great product!
I really like this product. It surprised me how much it got out of my lawn. The fingers that grab the thatch seem to last quite awhile also.
